Someone get me a boat!

I think I need to build a beach in my backyard.

It can be done. For my sweet sixteen, my mom ordered a ton of sand and had it dumped in the backyard. And I had an actual beach, and it was eventually glorious. I say “eventually” because it rained for the actual party. But we kept the beach for a little while afterwards. It was fun to walk around on the sand whenever I wanted.

To be clear, though, I’m not wanting to build a beach to relive my sweet sixteen. I’m quite content to leave my high school years behind, thank you. No, I want a beach because I am feeling royally cheated by summer so far and I think that would help make up for it.

I don’t know about y’all, but in my neck of the woods all it has done this month is RAIN. Sometimes to shake things up, nature will throw a tornado in there for funsies. But mostly it has been rain. And with that rain has come flooding. My house fortunately has been spared, but others have not.

I LIVE for summer. Seriously. And if I don’t get to enjoy my summer, I’m gonna be mad. Really mad. Unfortunately, I can’t go full Karen on this problem and ask to speak to a manager.

So instead I think I will get lots of sand and build a beach. Here is what else I can do:

  • I can move my hammock onto the sand to make it feel more beach like.
  • Or I can leave my hammock where it is under the gazebo, so I can stay somewhat dry in the rain.
  • Of course, I could just go sunbathing in the rain. When I’m at a real beach, I don’t really swim in the ocean. I just kinda wade in and get wet. So this would be pretty much the same thing, right?
  • Wait…did I just say sunbathe in the rain? Geez, I am losing it.
  • Now hold on, that’s not completely wrong. It can rain while the sun is shining. It’s trippy, but it happens.
  • But that is not what has been happening lately, which is why I’m all bummed out.
  • Clearly the lack of sun is affecting my ability to write good.
  • Maybe I could also get a boat.

Sorry this week’s post sucks, y’all. As previously stated, the lack of sun is clearly affecting my writing ability. And it’s been a rough past few days. I think I’m going to sit under my UV lamp with an umbrella drink until I can restore some measure of sanity. I’ll catch y’all next week. Hopefully it will be sunny by then.
