Blogging With Hoodies and Gatorade

Earlier today I said to myself “self, you need a gimmick.”

Not me personally. I don’t need a gimmick. I was thinking for the blog. At first this whole “write about whatever pops into my head” thing was the way to go. But as I look at successful bloggers, YouTubers, social media influencers, etc they all have A Thing that they’re known for.

So what is my thing?

I thought about reviewing TV shows and offering witty commentary. “I’m good at witty commentary,” I thought to myself as I sipped a fancy beverage. (Fancy beverages are an essential part of providing witty commentary.)

But then I realized the flaws in this plan:

  1. My stomach will not tolerate most fancy beverages these days.
  2. Writing witty commentary about TV shows assumes I am up to date on said shows, which I am not, nor do I have the time to be.

I thought for a moment that maybe people would appreciate my being behind on pop culture. Surely there are other people like me who are woefully out of sync with the rest of the world. They might enjoy getting a spoiler free recap of season one of a show from ten years ago so they know if it’s worthy of being binge watched.

Maybe my gimmick could come in another form. I thought of a recent episode of Modern Family where Phil blogs as The Foodie in a Hoodie. I have plenty of hoodies and other slob attire. Maybe that could be my thing. The blogger with…no fashion sense?

But then I remembered I never post pictures of myself on here, so I didn’t know what my audience would think if I suddenly started posting pictures of myself in hoodies.

I asked The Cat what she thought about coming up with a gimmick.

“Meow,” she said.

She doesn’t really care.

Anyhoo, until I come up with something, y’all are stuck with me and my random thoughts. Is there anything you think would make the blog more interesting? Costumes? Subject matter? Extreme stunts? (Don’t vote for extreme stunts, please.) Tell me about it in the comments. See you next week!
