My Thoughts on the Super Bowl
I didn’t watch the Super Bowl. I never do.
Sorry if you were expecting more than that.
I felt obligated to make a post about it, though, so here we are.
So maybe instead I’ll make my wish list of Things That Might Actually Make Me Want To Watch The Super Bowl:
- I’ve never been interested in watching sports unless I have some sort of personal connection to it. In high school, football games were fun because I was in marching band and I got to hang out with my band buddies. And there were people on the team that I know. But professional sports? I don’t know these people. So maybe if the NFL ever drafted someone I knew, it might be more fun. I could watch and say “see number 47 over there? I went to high school with him. He went streaking through the ballroom at prom. I think I have pictures of it somewhere.” NOTE: No one actually went streaking at my prom. It was pretty boring.
- It would need to be on earlier in the day. I’m not a night owl, y’all.
- There would be less football and more halftime show.
- And the halftime show would feature M83, because I love them.
- Maybe I just need to go to a M83 concert.
- No, that doesn’t work, because I hate concerts. But I still feel compelled to go to them about once a decade.
- Okay, so maybe there’s nothing that would make me watch the Super Bowl.
I can get on board with the idea of making lots of awesome snack food while watching TV. That part of the Super Bowl tradition I like. Maybe I just need to host a “Everybody Bring Snacks And We’ll Watch Something” party.
Yeah, that could work.
What do y’all think? Do you watch the Super Bowl as is? Would you like to see some improvements? Tell me about it in the comments. I’ll read them after I round up some snacks.

I love sports. Put me in front of any sports but Golf and I’ll probably be glued to the T.V. For that reason it is a good thing my husband hates sports. Because of this I barely ever watch them. I only watch the Super Bowl if either the Ravens are playing (my sister’s favorite team), or if I want an excuse to party with Kyle’s family. This year neither of those happened. Ravens lost, and I was up late with Kaleb’s Eagle court of honor Saturday and had no desire to go anywhere but church on Sunday.
I hate the half time show. Usually I like most of the commercials.
There be my thoughts 🙂
I don’t love sports at all, but will always support the team that effects my city. As a fair weather fan, it’s not about the team, it’s about how our community grows from their success. I’m so proud of the Chiefs this year and the Royals in 2015.
